The finished project!!!

Well, the trees came down, and the wood has been stacked, the big machine has come and gone, and we are so done. All the hard work has paid off, and my wonderful husband has got his boat shed. The property was pretty bare with the trees gone, but there has to be alot said for army green. Not my favorite colour, but it sure
blends in with the surroundings. Blocks
the home behind us and gives us lots of
privacy in the back.

I have to say this was more physical work, than
our projects in the past. It was kind of an eyesore before we started, but it really adds to the property now. We just have to be careful that we obey the property line and not get too carried away. We actually own the property behind us, and have borrowed some of that to add onto ours for the time being.

Now, I can finally get to moving my plants around and then settling in for the holidays.
Oh, how I love the holidays. The decorations,
the smells and the excitement of the kids.
Can't wait ...

I am sooooo tired!!!

Well, the tree that came down on it's own, is now cleared away. And so are the other 7 we took out. We thought we were done today about noon and then I decided that 2 more better come out now while we were at it. Good decision? I hope so. Fred the Squirrel will have to find out where we put his little nut house, I think my husband wants to send me to a nut house, but all will be good, once the big machine comes in and levels all the dirt. He will forget about all the hard work, splitting and piling wood, when his new boat shed arrives. A few strategically planted trees, and all should be good again.

I moved so much wood these last couple of days, my butt hurts. Not that it couldn't use some exercise. I think I'm close to the 10 pound workout. Soon it will be time to call it quits and enjoy some downtime. Or not, I still have to move my plants around. I think it never ends. Those voices in my head never stop.

Time for the hot tub and then nighty night.

Ms. Biscuit

I know you are all dying to get the latest update. Ms. Biscuit, aka baby girl, aka little shit, or whatever comes to mind when she's showing her independence is doing just great. She's a wopping 30 pounds and actually quite calm, most of the time.

Let's see, she has shredded 3 pairs of my flipflops, loves the dishclothes and has a passion for chewing anything that is not her chew toys. She still has her dad wrapped around her paw, and demands that everyone fuss over her. She thinks the boys are the perfect chew toys and barking at Buddy, weighing in at 120 pounds, is her most favorite pasttime. Luckily for her, he's half deaf, so only hears 1/2 of what she's saying. Cheeky, but we love her, and she is a nice addition to our family.

"S"'s 9th birthday

Oh, it is hard not to cry... Where has the last 9 years gone. Our first born is growing up. Yes, I'm a sucker and a softy. I can't believe how fast it goes.

Another year down and I'm very proud of our son. He held true to his word, and had a great party with his 4 closest friends. Lasertag and Boston Pizza, can't get better than that. He said he was going to raise money for Mars, and he did. We sent off a check for $110.00 this week. Mars stands for Mountaineer Avian Rescue Society. They take care of wounded, abandoned or sick birds and nurse them back to health and then release them again. We are so proud and glad that giving back to the community is important to him too.

November 3, 2005 - Already

I know it has been a long time since I blogged.

Everybody, stop bugging me, here I go.

I finally have some down time from work. Thank god. When I did have days off, I was so tired, it was all I could do to get the necessities done. However, these last few days have been busy around the yard and this morning at about 10'ish, if my blood wasn't flowing it didn't take long after our experience today.

The kids are in school, my husband was downtown and I decided to have a long hot shower. I was quite enjoying myself, when I heard a big bang. Okay no big deal, we have been clearing our back property and this morning there was a big, big storm. No problem, maybe a tree fell. Kept showering until my big 120 pound dog tried to get in the shower with me. I decided this needed further investigation, immediately. Got out, not yet finished my shower and walked downstairs to find a big tree had fallen across my back patio and was smashed against my railing of my deck. Ok this really woke me up. Needless to say, end of shower and Leanne leaps into action. Actually, I phoned my husband to get home NOW!!!. No more trees fell, but I knew what my job was going to be today. No relaxing day ahead. Got the tree pretty much cleared away and to both my husband's and my happiness, Mr. Saunders showed up with his really big chainsaw and cleared any questioning trees we had left. 4 big unsafe trees came down and now I can sleep peacefully. Thank you Mr. Saunders.

Once I realized that the damage was minimal, I quickly took stock of damaged plants. No laughing, this could of easily been a insurance claim. Fortunately the hedge was recently planted, so it bent and did not break. My Nandina Domestica, crumpled, but not destroyed. Euphorbia half hit, but not taken out. So it came down to early pruning season at my house. Two feet either way, and it would have been drastic. I think I would have cried. Had to phone Sandy, and we were both relieved my trelles and Taxus Baccatta Dovestonia, aka my $200.00 dollar tree, as my husband refers to it, was saved.

Lots of wood to pile and it will be good for at least 10 pounds. Good thing I got the month off. Oh ya' the indestructible retaining wall my husband built a few months ago, really is indestructable, not one broken stone. Way to go honey, when you build, you build.
