Love this time of year

Through all the rain, we have had some wonderful days here. Was out on Sunday, and noticed my bulbs coming up, hydrangea's budding and rose bushes exploding with new growth.

However, with all the rain I have resorted to doing inside jobs. For all those who know me really well, I tackled my office. For those who really know me and have ever seen behind the locked door, you know what a feet that was. For those who have never seen behind the locked door, you just have to imagine. One orange garbage bag completely full of shredding. Most were of Nursery receipts. I cannot believe how much I have spent last year. Fortunately, my husband will not know how much I spent either. He has never cared if I buy stuff for the yard, but this may change his mind. It would probably send him to rehab. I always mention the word "SALE" in my conversation about gardening and other key words.

I remember the time I bought boxwood. He asked how much, I said it was a great deal at $10.00. He thought it was a great deal too, until he counted 25 of them. I never tell how many of one thing I bought, and usually try and get in ground before he comes home. I learnt that one from Sandy.

This time of year, excites me and makes me start daydreaming about what is too come this year. It will be busy, with the wedding in our yard in August. Most of the hard work is done, just some more planting, not as much as last year, and some minor construction and yard work. We did most last year, so everything had a year to grow and get established. I highly recommed this, as my clematis didn't really do well last year, so I have my fingers crossed for this year. I have done some walk abouts, and realized, that I still have lots to get in the ground from last year. Thank goodness for a mild winter. Need to get some design ideas from my very talented friend, Sandy, and all should be good.

Blog surfing

Well, I can't believe we are coming onto the middle of January already. I have a feeling this year will fly by just like the last ones have. When did we get too old to have endless summers and Xmas break that lasted forever. Oh, how I wish to be young again.

Even though I haven't been blogging lately, I have been checking out everyone else's blogs. Thanks for the entertainment. I have to say, you inspire me, make me daydream, especially for those Aussie beaches - less the sharks, and make be wonder what this year will bring.

Now, I just need to figure out how to link you all through my site, so some of my friends can enjoy the pics. I guess a call to Sandy will be in order.

Have a wonderful day, and I'm sure I'll get to downloading the pics from the digital soon. I seem to go in waves. Today was huge, I actually ironed all the clothes today. That was good for 3 hours. Just to find 3 things hanging in the laudry room after all was complete and put away. Boy, it sure makes my life sound boring. Or, just that I have got most things accomplished, and finally decided that I was desperate enough to actually do the ironing. That job is not high on my priority list.

Happy New Year to all...

Hard to believe another year has come and gone. I hope all who read this, had a wonderful Christmas. I hope that you all are as truly blessed as I am, and got to enjoy the company of family and friends.

We had a very quiet Christmas season this year. By choice and I highly recommend it. We are usually so busy, that we don't get to kick back and enjoy the kids as much as we like. Not this year, we kicked back, had activities with the kids and just thouroughly enjoyed our family. S's dad came over from the mainland, and we saw my brother and his fiance. We visited with friends and ate way, way, way to much. I need another 10 pound yard work out again.

We totally took the month of December off, from yard work and any other grand ideas we had. Did you know, that idle hands makes your mind go into overdrive on the ideas end. We almost made the whole month off, but on Dec. 30th, a tree came down on the back property and just, by a few feet, missed the rental trailer back there. So on with the work clothes and more wood to move. Worked off a little of the shortbread.

Had a wonderful time with the boys this Xmas, and they got spoiled again. Boy it is easy to do, when they are good kids (mostly), I must be in a generous mood. I got to spend time with my lovely husband and got to hang out with my father-in-law. Actually, just rang up daughter in law bonus points with the home cooking and baking. I even took a giant leap, and read a book over the holidays. Bad idea, because at time's I get lost. I read Wilbur Smith, a South African writer. As it was poetically put to me over the holidays, "he paints pictures with his words". I read Blue Horizon. I however, finished to the last 2 pages, and then I am hanging, because, I believe little Miss Biscuit thought I was engaged to much for her liking, and chewed the last 2 pages of the book off and shredded it. Good thing they only set up the next book. I'm sure it will be another 2 years until I dare pick up another of his books. Maybe if I get them on tape, I can listen on my way to work.

Now I must go and off to bed, too many late nights and it is caught up with me. Enjoy the new year and all it has to offer.

God Bless.
